Cycling in Weliagama lets you experience the beautiful countryside of the island, as well as coastal Sri Lankan village life from up close. Pedaling through rugged terrain alongside volcanic rims, zooming coastal beaches and landmarks while greeting local villagers as you pass by, all add to an immersive experience - far better than your hotel gym!

You will start the cycle ride from the hotel and ride along the countryside paddy fields and people will experience scenic landscapes, local fishermen living style in the countryside.  You can cycle all the way to Weligama from Mirissa through the countryside without using any main roads. This is soft cycling trail and has a total distance 30 - 40 km. People will experience the traditional hospitality of the locals as well. Take a ride through the leafy, scenic back-roads of a typical southern village that lies inland from Weligama. The trail snakes its way alongside lush rice paddies, rubber and cinnamon estates, small-holder plantations and home gardens, places of worship, rural homes – several that feature architecture from traditional as well as colonial styles - and other points of interests such as the local “kadey” - i.e. a small scale local “boutique” that is at the heart of day to day necessities of village life. Have a coconut drink from the local shop!!! A colorful array of bird life is also a key feature.
